Competition
in
American
Kennel
Club
(AKC)
events
is
familiar
to
most
owners
in
the
Colorado
GSP
Club
(CGSPC).
The
club
sponsors
several
Field
Trials
throughout
the
year,
and
conducts
one
Conformation
Show
in
February.
We
also
host
one
or
two
all-pointing
breed
Hunt
Tests
annually,
allowing
those
who
want
to
prove
their
dog’s
hunting
skills
without
head
to
head
competition
a
chance
to
do
so.
Events
such
as
Field
and
Hunt
tests
are
called
"performance
events"
by
the
AKC
–
these
events
are
restricted
to
a
small
number
of
breeds
and
include
events
such
as
Hunt,
Field,
Earth
Dog,
Lure
Coursing,
Herding,
and
Coonhound
Trials.What
about
well-known
activities
such
as
Obedience
and
other
competitive
events?
AKC
classifies
these
activities
as
"Companion
Dog"
activities
–
they
include
Obedience,
Agility,
Canine
Good
Citizen,
and
Tracking.
All
breeds
recognized
by
the
AKC
can
compete
in
these
activities.
